DELAWARE — The Arena Fair Theatre Company will present the smash Broadway
musical ‘Anastasia’ this Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the air-conditioned comfort of the Buckeye Valley theater located at Buckeye Valley High School.
Show times are 7:00 P.M. Friday and Saturday, June 26 and 27, and 2:00 P.M. Saturday and Sunday, June 27 and 28.
Tickets are just $15 and may be purchased at the door or at www.arenafair.com.
Based loosely on the 1997 20th Century Fox animated film of the same name, the stage
adaptation drops many of the magic elements of the animated film and adds 16 new musical numbers from Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, the Tony Award winning composers of Ragtime, Seussical, and Once on This Island.
Following up on the success of recent summer productions of The Sound of Music,
Fiddler on the Roof, The Music Man, and Singin’ in the Rain, this production has been moved to Buckeye Valley because the heat of summer has made it too warm to hold productions at the Willis Theater in Delaware.
Arena Fair will return to Willis for this fall’s ‘Next to Normal’ and the Christmastime production of ‘Little Women’.
‘Anastasia’ is directed by Cat Hodge, who previously directed Music Man, Singin’ in the
Rain and several Shakespeare productions for Arena Fair, with Brian White as Music Director, Chris Crawford directing tech, and Shelly Wachman handling a record number of costumes.
While audiences will recognize Ryan Hawkins, Cathy Savinell and several others from
previous Arena Fair musicals, several newcomers will play prominent roles for this show.
High school theology teacher Rachel Kloess makes her stage debut in the title role as Anastasia. Olentangy Berlin choir director Thai Sribanditmongkol appears in his first Arena Fair production as Vlad, and stage veteran Garrett Criner appears in his first Arena Fair production as Dmitry.
Doors to waiting area will open one hour before each show and the house will open one
half before curtain.
