DELAWARE — Main Street Delaware is pleased to announce the return of the Downtown Delaware Farmers’ Market, beginning Saturday, May 23, and continuing every Saturday through Oct. 31.

As the market continues to grow year over year, Main Street Delaware has worked closely with the City of Delaware and the City of Delaware Police Department to implement a new layout designed to improve safety, reduce congestion, and enhance the overall visitor experience.

For the 2026 season, Sandusky Street will be closed from William Street to Winter Street during market hours. This change allows the market to move off the sidewalks and into the street, creating a more open and accessible environment for shoppers, vendors, and downtown visitors.

“Downtown Delaware continues to be a place where community comes together, and the Farmers’ Market is a big part of that,” said Mayor Carolyn Kay Riggle. “This new layout reflects thoughtful collaboration focused on safety, accessibility, and creating an even better experience for residents and visitors. We’re proud to support Main Street Delaware as they continue to grow this popular event and showcase the best of our local businesses, farmers, and makers.”

The market will operate from 9 a.m. to noon each week and will once again feature a strong lineup of local farmers, makers, and small businesses. This season, the market is expected to host more than 40-45 approved vendors weekly, offering a wide variety of fresh and locally produced goods, including fruits and vegetables, honey, meat, eggs, plants, baked goods, handcrafted items, and more.

“We’re excited to see the continued growth of our Farmers’ Market, from the number of vendors to the visitors we welcome each week,” said Country Graf, executive director of Main Street Delaware. “Having the ability and support to close the streets is a big step forward. We believe this change will elevate the market experience while creating a safe, enjoyable environment for everyone to explore downtown Delaware on Saturday mornings.”

Beyond the market, visitors are encouraged to enjoy the full downtown Delaware experience each Saturday morning. With expanded pedestrian space, guests can explore local shops, restaurants, and patios throughout the district – or even start the morning with a run through town with Columbus Running Company before heading back to the market. Downtown businesses such as Hamburger Inn and Clō Wine Gallery & Lounge offer great breakfast options and patio seating, while spots like The Greater Gouda serve up fresh samples right off the grill. Pair it all with a cup of coffee from some of downtown’s favorites, including Fresh Start Café & Bakery, Coffeeology, Choffey’s Coffee & Confections, or Ciao Café.

Shoppers are also encouraged to browse downtown retail offerings, including home goods, candles, greeting cards, antiques, books, plants, and more – making the Farmers’ Market a starting point for a full morning in downtown Delaware.
