SUNBURY — Nolan Buirley will play Big Ten football next year at Northwestern.
In the meantime, he’s making short work of the local competition.
The Big Walnut standout rushed for 248 yards and three touchdowns to power the Golden Eagles to a 39-7 victory over Dublin Coffman on Friday night. It was the second huge night in as many weeks for Buirley, who had 187 yards in the 32-7 season-opening win over Hilliard Bradley.
Quarterback Eli Stumpf added 131 passing yards and two touchdowns for Big Walnut, which compiled 450 yards of total offense.
The Golden Eagles’ defense put on a dominant performance of its own, holding Dublin Coffman to just 134 total yards.
Big Walnut (2-0) is home against Reynoldsburg next week.
