DELAWARE — A historic former county jail in Delaware is getting a new owner and a new purpose as a local developer plans to renovate the property for office and commercial space.

Andy Warnock, principal of Westwood Collective, purchased the Historic Jail and Sheriff’s Residence for $412,000 from the Delaware County Historical Society, which took over the property in 2021.

The jail was used for exhibits, tours and special events, even becoming an unconventional wedding venue for nine celebrations in 2025.

The 8,500-square-foot building at 20 W. Central Ave. was constructed in 1878 and served as a working jail until 1988. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
