DELAWARE — Old Bag of Nails is closing its Delaware pub after more than two decades.
The last day of business will be Sunday for the 66 N. Sandusky St. location.
Abigail Stellern, vice president of strategy and growth for the locally-based brand, told Columbus Business First that she had hoped to secure a long-term lease with the landlord but was not able to do so.
It’s been on a month-to-month deal since 2024. The original 20-year lease dating back to the 2004 opening expired then.
Stellern said they made an offer to buy the more than 6,000-square-foot building but it was not accepted.
Without a long-term commitment for the space, she said it didn’t make sense to invest in upgrades and other needed improvements.
The hope is it is not the end of the relationship to Delaware.
“The community is wonderful. The city has always been good to work with. It’s an expanding market,” she said. “If there was a great opportunity we’d love to open a new spot in Delaware.”
Stellern said they are working to place employees in other Old Bag of Nails locations, should they want to transfer.
