DELAWARE — For three decades, Connections Volunteer Center, a community program of HelpLine, has demonstrated how ordinary acts of kindness can create extraordinary community impact. On Tuesday, Dec. 1, HelpLine will celebrate that legacy during its 8th Annual Guardians for Good Awards Celebration, honoring the people and organizations whose generosity continues to strengthen Delaware County.

Held annually on Giving Tuesday, the celebration takes place from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Ohio Wesleyan University’s Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $50 per person, and registration closes Wednesday, Nov. 11. Community members can purchase tickets, make donations or explore sponsorship opportunities at helplinedelmor.org.

This year’s theme, “Goodness: Powered by Volunteers,” marks Connections 30th anniversary and carries a powerful message: everyone has something valuable to give.

“Thirty years of Connections Volunteer Center represents thousands of people who chose to give something of themselves to make life better for someone else,” said Jason Bridges, HelpLine Executive Director. “That’s the spirit we’re celebrating, but it’s also the spirit we’re asking our community to carry forward. Whether you give your time, share your talents or make a financial gift, you can be the difference.”

Since 2018, Guardians for Good has recognized more than 35 community champions whose service, philanthropy and advocacy advance HelpLine’s mission. These individuals and organizations have leveraged compassion, commitment and the currency of kindness to create lasting change.

Founded in 1996, Connections has connected nearly 25,000 volunteers with opportunities to serve local nonprofits and older adults (age 55+) in need. Today, the program partners with more than 60 organizations, supporting initiatives such as Senior Companions, which helps older adults remain connected and independent; Sages & Seekers, which fosters intergenerational relationships; and Make A Difference Delaware County, the county’s largest single day of volunteering.

This year’s celebration will feature the Guardians for Good Awards, a hands-on volunteer activity and a special “Pioneers in Volunteering” panel spotlighting local changemakers who transformed grassroots ideas into thriving organizations and community initiatives. WBNS 10TV co-anchors Jeff Hogan and Stacia Naquin will serve as emcees.

Beyond recognizing volunteerism, Guardians for Good is HelpLine’s annual Giving Tuesday fundraiser, generating vital support for crisis services and volunteer programming that touch thousands of lives each year.

Every day, HelpLine responds to people facing difficult circumstances, from mental health crises and sexual assault to families struggling to access basic necessities. Through its 24/7 crisis support, 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline services, 211 information and referral, survivor advocacy, prevention and volunteer programs, HelpLine connects people with hope, resources and a path forward.

“Generosity doesn’t look the same for everyone,” Bridges added. “Some people can give an hour, others can share a skill, offer encouragement or make a financial contribution. What matters is that we recognize our ability to help one another. When we all do our part, our entire community benefits.”

HelpLine gratefully acknowledges its 2026 Guardians for Good sponsors to date: Artina Promotional Products, Honda Marysville, Columbus State Community College – Delaware Campus, DelCo Water, Delaware County Foundation, OhioHealth, Richwood Bank and Ohio Living Foundation. Their investment reflects a shared commitment to building stronger, healthier and more connected communities.

The community is invited to be part of the celebration.Whether attending, making a financial gift or spreading the word, every act of generosity helps HelpLine advance its mission to strengthen the emotional health and wellness of the communities it serves.
