The United States of America’s 250th birthday didn’t just end on the Fourth of July.
After you cast your vote at your precinct, you should have been handed a special America 250-branded voting sticker.
Delaware County Board of Elections Republican member Steve Cuckler said the fact that it is the America 250 Election Day could help voter turnout.
“I think so, it’s the greatest country in the history of the world,” Cuckler said. “Obviously we’re still around 250 years later despite what people read on social media.
“Yeah, people are proud to be Americans. So what a great day to come out and vote.”

Delaware County Board of Elections Republican member Steve Cuckler shared some early voting numbers in Delaware County thus far.
- About 170,000 registered voters in Delaware County.
- To date, about 50,000 of those voters have either voted in-person or requested an absentee ballot.
“To give a little perspective, the last midterm in 2022 we had 98,000 voters turnout,” Cuckler said. “We had less registered voters, but we had 98,000 voters turnout and that was about a 64% turnout.”
In the 2024 Presidential Election, Cuckler said Delaware County had an 82% turnout with about 133,000 votes cast.
“People have different prediction models, but you’re going to see the turnout percentage [in this election] probably somewhere between the 64% to 82% [range],” he added. “So maybe around 70%, hopefully more.”

Today marked the first time I cast a vote in Delaware County since moving here to join the Delaware Source team (not trying to steal Taylor’s thunder lol).
I ventured over to the Delaware Christian Church precinct around 9:30 a.m. and didn’t wait in line at all. It also was the first time I’ve ever voted on a screen — no pen and paper for me today.
All of the poll workers were super kind and helpful. Check out the Delaware Source social media pages to see more of my reaction.
Polls close at 7:30 p.m. today so be sure to get out and vote, too. As long as you’re in line by 7:30 p.m., you’ll be able to cast your vote.
I voted earlier this morning at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, which marks my first time voting in Delaware after moving here earlier this year to be a Delaware Source reporter!
There was no line at all, and the process was very seamless. Make sure you get out and vote too before the polls close at 7:30 p.m. As long as you are in line by 7:30 p.m., you will be allowed to vote.

Hello Delaware Source readers, and happy election day. The Delaware Source crew will update this live blog throughout the day to let you see what election day looks like in a local newsroom. So stay tuned, because we will be posting the election results tonight as they come in.
It’s going to be a late night, but it’s always a lot of fun.
