DELAWARE— A stretch of State Route 315 between Home Road and Bunty Station Road closed on Monday.
That closure marks the beginning of a four-month infrastructure repair project along the scenic corridor of 315, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
ODOT crews will install roadside ditches, replace culverts and build retaining walls at three locations to stabilize slopes and reduce erosion.
Traffic will be detoured via State Route 315 to State Route 750 to U.S. Route 23 or reverse, according to ODOT.
Local roadways, including Home Road and Hyatts Road, will remain open through the duration of construction, and homeowners will maintain access to driveways/private properties, according to ODOT.
Drivers will still be able to access:
- Bunty Station Road from U.S. Route 23 (Columbus Pike) by heading south on 315.
- East to West traffic on Home Road, Hyatts Road and Orange Road via crossing 315 during construction.
The project is estimated to cost $3,330,000 and construction was initially slated to begin in fall 2025, according to ODOT’s website.
315 continues to see improvements
Last summer, ODOT installed a roundabout at the intersection of State Route 315 and Hyatts Road to improve safety and reduce congestion.
That project cost $2,600,000 and closed the road for a month.
But the current closure is not all ODOT has in mind.
The agency is in the development phase of another State Route 315 project that would “construct a mini, single lane roundabout at the intersection of SR 315 and Jewett Road,” according to ODOT’s website.
The project will also include widening 315 south of the intersection to add dedicated turn lanes onto Abbotsford Green Drive and Briarcliffe Drive.
The project would prompt another full closure, but construction is not anticipated to begin until 2027, according to ODOT.
