POWELL — The COhatch Powell campus is now officially complete with the opening of the location’s first retreat house.
COhatch Powell welcomed occupants in March, Lani Rooftop Lounge started serving drinks in April, and now Middlebury House is open to members at 60 E. Olentangy St., right next to the main building.
Whereas COhatch offices offer open-concept work spaces with private meeting rooms for rent, Middlebury House is a destination for larger, private meetings and events.
Think executive retreats, leadership meetings, board meetings, client presentations, workshops, team-building and strategic planning sessions.
“Middlebury House is a first-of-its-kind for COhatch — and it reimagines what a corporate offsite can and should be,” COhatch CEO Matt Davis said in a statement.
“So many people dread long company meetings and we’re changing that by offering a retreat home designed to help teams relax, connect, collaborate and do their best thinking together.”
More than a meeting space
The location offers indoor and outdoor space that can accommodate up to 60 people. Inside, there is a kitchen and living room space, as well as three meeting rooms.
Middlebury House, like other COhatch locations, is available for event space, such as graduation parties, birthday parties and other private events.
COhatch members, or interested community members, can reserve space by meeting room and/or by one-half and all-day rates for the entire home here.
Companies that utilize the space also have access to more than just the house.
“We’ve also layered in elevated touches — like Napa Valley wine tastings — to make the day feel less like an obligation and more like something teams can genuinely look forward to,” Davis said.
Bourbon samplings, team grill outs, catered chef lunches and other amenities are also available.
The COhatch construction crew renovated the 140-year-old home to provide a more modern look and feel, but retained much of the historic character, including the original, exposed wooden beams.
And the name “Middlebury” is a nod to Powell’s original name, way back in 1813.
This is only the first COhatch retreat house: there are already three more in development at Dublin’s Riverview Village innovation district, according to the press release.
