To the Editor,

Many of us know a neighbor, a friend or a family member who is struggling with a behavioral health issue, perhaps even a crisis. Most of us, however, do not understand or are regularly confronted with the extent of these daily needs throughout our growing community.

That’s why I’m urging you to vote “yes” for the Delaware-Morrow Mental Health and Recovery Services Board’s levy on the November 3rd ballot.

The Board oversees a local coordinated network of organizations and caring professionals who provide a safety net of services that assist our children and grandchildren, veterans, seniors, first responders – our families – when these needs arise. And in our community, these needs are on the rise.

I have personally had the opportunity to serve as a volunteer Board member to help oversee operations and to ensure the quality of the organization’s mission of service. The network of passionate people who provide this care every day here locally, now need our support to continue their work in a way that will address this growing need.

Providing hope and help to those in need prevents long term harm and makes us a stronger community. Vote Yes for mental health and our community on November 3.
